Responding to 'God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons...' " by Rev. Jan P Klak, St. Anthony Mary Claret. Last year, author Christopher Hitchens released a scathing attack on the three major religions in his book, God is not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything. The noted atheist’s work is the latest in a long line of books and attacks on faith (and Christianity, in particular) over the last century. Hitchens himself, in the months after the book's release, has been seen in many arenas debating with pastors, academics, and others, in an effort to influence public opinion to his corner. The bestseller has presented people of all faiths a challenge and opportunity to educate non-believers. - What specific attacks does the author make about Christianity and the Catholic Church? - What, if any, errors does Hitchens make in his attempt to dispute the history of Christ, the Gospels, and the Church? - Does Hitchens make any valid arguments about negative aspects of organized religion? - How can we, as laypeople, defend the faith against those who don't believe, and feel empowered by this book to attack the Church?
